It seems that April’s showers truly have brought May flowers!
As most of you may have seen on our Facebook page or in our members only Facebook group (which you can join here if you haven’t already!), our Youth Racing teams are hosting a Spring Plant Sale to raise money for their equipment fund!
We have a variety of plants for sale ranging from beautiful hanging baskets to a variety of herbs and flowers for potting. All proceeds from this fundraiser go directly to the equipment fund! So if you were planning on beautifying your home and garden or know someone who is, please order your flowers through us and support your club!
NRRA’s novice and varsity teams raced at the Saratoga Invitational last weekend, with 14 crews bringing home medals in 10 events, including one Gold medal finish, four Silver medal finishes and nine Bronze medal finishes.
The 20th annual Saratoga Invitational regatta, held at Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, NY, is America’s largest sprint race, featuring 10 lanes of 1,500 meter racing among top crews from the Northeast. More than 40 NRRA rowers from Wilton, Ridgefield, Norwalk, Fairfield, Darien, Stamford and Pound Ridge competed in 29 events during this prestigious two-day race. The team started off strong and, despite high winds and rain on the first day, the girls and boys teams kept the momentum going.
Due to the popularity of our first session, we have added TWO new Youth Learn-to-Row sessions to our Fall season.
Our Learn-to-Row classes are geared toward middle school and early high school athletes new to the sport. The program is offered 2 times per week for two hours each, where you learn basic rowing skills. Once you get the knack of it, Middle School athletes can transition to the Development Experienced Team. High School athletes can join the Novice Racing Team in the next season.
The NRRA Board of Directors invites all Norwalk River Rowing Members, Masters and Youth families to join us at our open Board meeting on Sept 13 where we will hear reports from the various Board Committee and Task Force heads, including a special update on status of the new Shell House.
