Summer is a great time to experiment with a new sport, hone your skills, or achieve competitive greatness! Norwalk River Rowing has a program for you.

Summer 2025

Here are the programs we are offering for rising 6th graders through college rowers. You can register for the specific program near the bottom of the page.

While school is in session, practices will take place in the afternoon. We then move to morning sessions in the second half of June through the summer.

Summer Learn To Row

New to the sport? This program is a great way for your athlete (rising 6th graders and above) to try out the great sport of rowing. Summer is the best time to be on the water, and a great time to give rowing a try! Our experienced coaching team will teach your athlete the basics of the sport, and within one session, they will be ready to join a developmental program later this Summer or this Fall!
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. We’ll teach you.

Session 1: May 27 – Jun 6, M-F 4-6:30pm
Session 2: Jun 9 – Jun 20, 6/9-6/13 M-F 4-6:30pm, 6/16-6/20 M-F 8:30-11a
Session 3: Jun 23 – Jul 4, M-F 8:30-11a
Session 4: Jul 7 – Jul 18, M-F 8:30-11a
Session 5: Jul 21 – Aug 1, M-F 8:30-11a

Ages 14 and under should join learn to row. If you are 15-16 with no previous experience, you are welcome to do one session of learn to row before joining our development program. If you are 17-19, please email chuckw (at) norwalkriverrowing.org to inquire what the best starting point is for your athlete.

Summer Development Program

This program is for youth rowers (rising 6th graders and above) who have completed a learn to row program at Norwalk or a beginner program at another club, but are not yet ready for our high performance camp. Have the basics down, but not ready to race? This is the program for you! Our developmental rowing program is a great way to take your rowing to the next level.

Rising 7th-10th graders

Session 2: Jun 30 – Aug 1, M-F M-F 8:30-11a

Summer Recreational Rowing

This program is for high school youth rowers who have rowing experience and want maintain fitness while training but does not wish to race.

Rising 9-12th graders (newly graduated seniors welcome!)

Session 1: May 27 – June 27
May 27- Jun 14: M-F 4-6:30pm
Jun 16-Jun 27: M-F 8:30-11:00a
Session 2: Jun 30 – Aug 1, M-F 8:30-11a

Summer High Performance Training and Racing

Ready to use the summer to take your rowing to a higher level? This rowing intensive will take you there!
This high performance program is for our current rowers who have been with Norwalk for at least 1 full season, or rowers who have been rowing for at least 6 months at other programs.
We have separate sign-ups for Varsity or older rowers, and for U15/16/Novice

Rising 9-12th graders with previous racing experience (newly graduated seniors welcome!)

Session 1: May 27 – June 27
May 27- Jun 14: M-F 4-6:30pm, Sat 8:30a-11am
Jun 16-Jun 27: M-F 8:30-11a
Session 2: Jun 30 – Aug 1, M-F 8:30-11a

Nationals Training Only

For those that only wish to train to race at the National Rowing Championships.
Registration limited to those that qualified and will be attending the US Youth National Rowing Championships June 12-15.

May 27 – June 15: M-F 4-6:30pm, Sat 8:30a-11am
