Help your Alma Mater, get a tax deduction AND get back on the water.
Win-Win-AND-Win!
Norwalk River Rowing is working with your Alma Mater to offer you an introductory return to rowing program. Rowing is a lifetime sport and the rowing community is active in Connecticut, even during the pandemic.
College rowing programs across the country are facing severe budget cuts as their institutions face falling enrollment and increased operating costs. The recently passed CARES Act has a provision which allows taxpayers to deduct up to $300 in cash donations in 2020, even if you take the standard deduction. If you make a donation of at least $200 to your college rowing program, Norwalk River Rowing will offer you a highly discounted basic membership for the rest of the 2020 season.
Norwalk River Rowing is one of the oldest rowing clubs in Connecticut and has a long history of producing athletes who have gone on to succeed in college and even Olympic rowing. We have active development and competitive youth programs for boys and girls, as well as adult learn to row, corporate, and experienced Masters programs. The club has a large selection of both sweep and sculling shells, storage for private boats, lots of Ergs, and has locker and shower facilities.
Our normal basic annual membership fees are $1,000 to $1,275 but we have a deal for you that can help your Alma Mater and get you back on the water!
If you make a $200 donation to your college rowing program, you can join NRRA as a basic member for the remainder of the 2020 season for $300. As an added benefit, you will be able to deduct an additional $100 from your taxes as NRRA is a non-for-profit community rowing organization. During the pandemic, we are only rowing singles and are meeting all state guidelines for infection control. We will row team boats as the state returns to normal.
Please contact Gene (ghuang@alum.mit.edu) for more information on the Masters program, or Jeff (jthompson@norwalkriverrowing.org) to register for this introductory program or for more information on rates and membership.
