Our mission at Norwalk River Rowing is to provide opportunities and access for those in our communities to learn, practice, and enjoy the sport of rowing. While we love to work with anyone who wants to row, we take special pride in actively seeking to introduce new people to the sport and sharing all there is to know and love about it with people who have never tried (or maybe even heard of) rowing before!
In our Beginner/Learn-to-Row programs we teach you everything you need to know to get out on the water and start exploring what could become a lifelong passion. These classes focus on basic technique, terminology, and equipment use in a fun, relaxed, non-competitive environment while aiming to build enough skill and knowledge to continue progressing toward whatever your goal may be. Whether you are looking for a new competitive outlet; want to try an activity that improves strength, cardio fitness, coordination, and balance all in one; want to meet new people and become part of a network of rowers all over the world; or want to experience the peace of a morning spent gliding over flat water as the sun rises over Long Island Sound, it all starts with that first stroke in a Learn to Row class. People of all athletic abilities and backgrounds can learn and enjoy rowing, so we welcome and encourage people of all athletic abilities and backgrounds to join us!
