Norwalk River Rowing qualified five boats for the US Rowing Youth National Championships at this last week-end’s US Rowing Northeast District Youth Championship Regatta in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Thirty-five of the northeast’s top rowing clubs had 395 boats entered at this regatta.  Norwalk qualified 14 of its 25 entries for the finals, which were held Sunday afternoon.  A medal in a first varsity event brought with it an automatic invitation to the US Rowing Youth National Championships near Sacramento beginning June 13.  At the end of the day Norwalk River had six medals, five in first varsity events. It earned golds in the men’s youth varsity single, men’s youth varsity pair and men’s youth lightweight four plus coxswain.   It won silvers in the men’s youth lightweight double and men’s youth second varsity quad and a bronze in the men’s youth varsity quad. All of the medaling boats except the second varsity quad are headed to Sacramento for Nationals!
