Norwalk River Rowing  provides a great environment for youth! We teach respect, discipline, team work and commitment. All of this while they get fit, fast and have fun.

Choose the program that best fits your needs…..

Racing Team (High School – age 14+):
For the high school student who enjoys competition. The team travels around the region on weekends to regattas to compete with other high school athletes. Practices 6 days per week during the Fall and Spring Rowing Seasons.

  • Varsity (school year):  Previous experience required to be start on  the Varsity Racing Team.
  • Novice (school year):   For the new rower, or rower that has been racing for less than a year.  No previous experience required. We love new rowers!  We will teach you!
  • Winter Programs: We may be off the water but there is still plenty to do. Continue training to keep up fitness and increase strength. Getting ready for the exciting Spring sprint season!
  • Summer Programs:  Sharpen your skills and your strength over summer. Focus on smaller boats. Summer Races!

Recreational Rowing (High School – age 14+):
For the high school student who wants to be active but does not want to race.  Focus is on improving skill and fitness, but with a lower training intensity.  3 days per week.

Development Team (Middle School – ages 12-14):
For the middle school athlete. Lower intensity than Racing team for the athlete that wants to improve their skills, but does not want to compete regionally.  A good first step for some who want to “test the waters” before the bigger commitment of the Racing Team.    Practices 2 – 3 days per week during school year. Daily in Summer.  No experience necessary!
