The 16th Annual Matthew Zucker Memorial Ergathon is just a few weeks away!

The Matthew Zucker Memorial Fund was established by Matthew’s parents, Barbara and Mark, in memory of their son, Matthew, an avid rower and NRRA athlete, who lost his battle with brain cancer just before his high school graduation in 1998. The fund enables NRRA to fulfill its mission of providing scholarships and equipment to young people who otherwise could not afford to row or to discover the same self-confidence, self-discipline, and love of rowing that Matthew did. All Three Programs Successful at the Head of the Riverfront!

The Boys, Girls and Masters all returned victorious from the Head of the Riverfront in Hartford last Sunday, returning with 7 medals: 3 golds, two silvers and two bronzes.  With over 700 boats entered, this regatta was more than twice the size of the Tail of the Fish, and featured crews from all over New England and New York.  Fortunately, the weather was much nicer than last year, making the 2.25 mile race course not quite as daunting. NRR Youth Have Strong Opening at the Tail of the Fish

The Norwalk River Rowing youth teams had a strong opening to their fall head season at the Tail of the Fish last Saturday, returning home with 12 medals: three golds, two silvers and six bronzes.  This was the youth team’s first visit to a Saratoga Springs race in several years.  The day was very warm and, after a delayed start due to fog, quite sunny.  Twenty-six clubs entered 310 boats in the regatta, with 27 of those entries coming from Norwalk River Rowing.

Come Celebrate! We’re Naming Boats – Sat Sept 20 10am

10:00 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 20 (rain or shine!) for a brief naming ceremony celebrating the acquisition of a number of new (to us) boats.  There will be light refreshments and an announcement of the names (and brief explanation of their significance).  Please plan to take a few minutes to help us celebrate!  If you like to bake, consider bringing some baked goods to share.
